The Letters

Even in a world that at times seems lost and lacking in love, there are good stewards everywhere that serve as good role models for us all. They demonstrate to us that holiness is not just for those we read about in a Book of Saints. They remind us that we all have the capacity to love and be loved and that compassion is one of God’s greatest gifts.

Blessed Mother Teresa is certainly one name that comes to mind. There is a film coming out on March 22 on DVD entitled, THE LETTERS. The trailer is below and you can get a sense of how moving this film can be for the viewer.

My suggestion is this is important viewing for all those striving to be good stewards and mature disciples of Jesus Christ. It tells the story from her own letters and tells of a spiritual journey that is not easy. There are many blessings that come with following Jesus, but the path is not without peril. When Jesus says, “Take up your cross and follow me,” this is not an invitation to be taken lightly.

Listening to, and in this case watching on the screen, the testimonies of those who have walked before us in God can have an enormous impact on our own spiritual lives. Hopefully, many of us will take the time to watch this film, perhaps as a devotion on this year’s Easter season. Stories like this not only lift us up, but they remind us that in our experience of faith, we are never alone
